Fur Represented well at this Winter’s Fashion Weeks

From New York to London, Milan to Paris. Fur was not to be ignored during the recently held fashion weeks.

Once again there was a lot of fur on the international catwalks, when the major designers showed their AW17 designs during the four of the foremost fashion weeks in the international world of fashion.

New York, London, Milan and Paris were packed with fashion shows in January and February and, according to statistics compiled by International Fur Federation (IFF), 67 % of all the collections used fur.

The collections featured in Milan used fur the most. 50 of the 63 designers (79 %) incorporated fur into their collections. On the Italian runway, Gucci showed fur bomber jackets inspired by the 70s, and Versace presented imaginative mink robes with floral print. Marc Jacobs and Ryan Roche were among the 90 of the 146 designers (62 %) who showed fur in New York, and in Paris 60 of the 86 designers (70 %) chose to include the natural material in their AW17 collection.

"It's incredibly heartening to see the amount of fur on the runways holding firm. In fact, designers are using fur in ever more creative ways and giving consumers gorgeous, versatile pieces to wear on every sort of occasion, and across the seasons." says Mark Oaten, CEO of IFF.
