With an average price of mink skins of DKK 313 prices for mink skins remained at a very high level at
Kopenhagen Fur's April auction. The offering was just over
4.9 million mink skins in a beautiful collection with a wide and varied offering in both main types and mutations.
The auction was attended by around
580 buyers, of whom more than 300 were from
China. Again, the Chinese customers were the main buyers, but the Greek,
Turkish and Korean customers were also active in the auction room. It is very positive that other customer groups participate in the bidding and are willing to pay the high price.
Greece and Turkey are primarily living from sales of finished goods to the
Russian market and the activity in the auction room from these countries shows that Russia is reviving after the financial crisis. China's economy remains in growth speed, and the demand and purchasing power are also expected to be strong in the future.
Sales at the auction showed again that the quality is very important in price formation.
Prices of Velvet skins were once again strengthened, while there was a tendency towards a weakening of the prices for Classic skins. Within the individual types it is noteworthy that prices of Glow mink have reached the same level as Brown, so that the two types now cost the same.
The turnover at the 5-day auction reached a new record of
1.7 billion DKK ($304 Million USD) The average price of the mink skins was firm compared to
Kopenhagen Fur's auction in February.
