Flashy and colorful furs stole the show at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair's Trend Show.

The Bella Center in Copenhagen was packed with well-dressed buyers and guests at this year's CIFF Trend Show. CIFF is the largest fashion fair in Scandinavia, and again this year, they pulled off a Trend Show to inspire the many buyers, for their 2013 Spring/Summer shopping list.

Fur Raises The Bar

The show had four different parts, each with a different style and expression. At the trend show, the fur, which was borrowed from the Kopenhagen Studio, was used for the most glamorous parts of the show. According to Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, who styled this year's Trend Show, fur is indispensible for the show. .

“Fur makes an outfit more exclusive, and it lifts the whole outfit. I think it works great, if you pair a fur jacket with a pair of jeans for example. A pair of jeans doesn't pull down the fur, but the fur will complement the jeans, and make them better,” says Anders Sølvsten Thomsen.

A New Generation

Among a number of different styles from Kopenhagen Studio, Anders had chosen a Eliana Dimitrakopoulou's women’s fox jacket, and a Søren Bach's colorful mink vest. Two pieces that really caught the attention of the crowd as the models walked down the runway. “The buyers know that you can use fur with a cocktail dress or a suit for the men. I'm trying to find unorthodox ways to work with the fabric, and I want to show that fur can be used in other ways than the more classic styles we so often see, “ says Anders Sølvsten Thomsen.

According to Anders, the classical fur jacket is completely reserved for the fall/winter collections, but now there is a new fur interested generation, who does not content themselves with the classical fur products.

 

“The 15-30 year olds have a growing interest in using fur, and they are the ones, that I'm trying to reach, when I'm using these styles. I can easily see a beautiful girl walking down the street in New York, pulling of a big fox jacket. But it takes courage,” he says.
