The Greater Fur New York Association (aka Fur New York) is a regional trade organization that represents all segments of the New York fur market and the tri-state area. Their job is to promote the wearing of fur while protecting the customers’ freedom of choice to enjoy wearing their furs.

Fur New York has been in existence for well over 25 years. The Board of Directors would like to reacquaint the NY area fur industry to the extensive range of programs that Fur New York undertakes on behalf of the industry.

Hotel Discount Announced For New York Fur Marker Week

New York, NY (May, 2011) - In planning for the upcoming New York Fur Market Week scheduled for June 13 – 17, Fur New York has announced its partnership with Hotel 30/30.

For each room booked by May 13th, Fur New York will refund $50 per night, on the cost of the room for the first two nights. Hotel 30/30 is located at 30 East 30th Street, walking distance to the fur market. HOTEL THIRTY-THIRTY

“We want to encourage retailers nationwide to come to NY in June,” said John Petkanas, President. “Retailers can help to support NY Fur Market Week as well as the NY fur manufacturers. By doing so, we are happy to give them a rebate on their hotel accommodations.”

Hotel Reservations must be made by May 13, 2011 to qualify for the $50 per night rebate, which is applicable for the first two nights of their stay.

Fur New York’s annual ‘Person of the Year’ and membership party is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th , 2011, at 6:00pm at a location to be announced at a later date.

This year’s honoree is Hal Dittrich of Dittrich’s Furs. In addition, a seminar featuring American Legend, Kopenhagen, NAFA and SAGA is scheduled for Monday, June 13th at Hotel 30/30 from 3:30pm – 5:30pm in the restaurant. Cocktails and hors d’oevres will be served. Admission is free.

The seminar will take place on:

AMERICAN LEGEND: Joe Morelli will discuss building the Blackglama brand into a luxury brand, and how that will help increase profitability of the entire supply chain.

THE GREATER FUR NEW YORK’s MARKET WEEK HERALDED A HUGE SUCCESS



The Greater Fur New York Association’s efforts to rejuvenate New York Market Week was heralded a huge success by the NY fur trade. Designated
for the week of June 13th, the week included educational seminars, showroom appointments and was highlighted by the annual “Person of the Year”
and membership dinner party. This is the second consecutive year of New York Market Week.

An increased number of retailers came to NY for 2011 Market Week, thanks in large part to FICA scheduling their Board of Directors meeting to be held on
June 14th. With more retailers in town, it was reported that an increased number of showroom appointments resulted.

The educational seminar held on Monday, June 13th featured speakers from each of the auction houses: American Legend, Kopenhagen, NAFA and SAGA.
The seminar was held at Fur New York’s sponsoring hotel, Hotel 30/30, and included cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. More than 30 guests attended.

The annual Fur New York “Person of the Year” dinner, held on June 14th, was the highlight of the week and was an overwhelming success with 150 guests attending.
Mr. Hal Dittrich of Dittrich’s Furs was the honoree and accepted his award from Mr. Howard Hindin.



The surprise of the night was awarding the industry’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” to an unsuspecting Sandy Blye, a long-time member of the industry. She was the Executive
Vice President for the American Fur Industry (AFI), the predecessor to FICA, a position she held for 10 years. She then become the Director for Fashion Promotions for FICA,
position she held for 9 years. She continually served on the board of directors of Fur New York.

During the dinner party, president John Petkanas announced the generic ad photos that Fur New York recently produced and are now available to retailers for use
in their fall ad campaigns. A package of 10 photos costs only $600.
